The studioPipelineFive stages

Anyone can generate a clip.

Keeping the same face across, keeping the type legible, choosing which shot is worth the money. Same five stages whether it is a drama, a joke or an ad.

  1. 01

    Script to shot list

The written piece is broken down into individual shots before anything is generated. Nothing goes to a video model as a paragraph.

  2. 02

    Lock the visual identity

Reference stills come first and are then fixed: characters, props, locations. Every later shot is cast against them. That is what keeps a face the same across an episode.

  3. 03

    Generate the video

Shots are generated against the locked references. How many takes a shot is worth is decided before the first one runs.

  4. 04

    Voice, music, sound

Dialogue, inner monologue, score and sound design. Usually where the tone is really set.

    Assemble and finish

Cut, grade, and composite. All on-screen text is typed here, never generated.

Unit economicsTen gates

The credits are the cheap part.

10gates costed, script to legal review

I cost production across ten gates, from scripting to legal review, with real prices for every tool.

At this scale the biggest cost is my time, not generation credits. That is the argument for hiring this studio: you are buying creative direction, at a fraction of the labour a traditional shoot needs to reach the same frame.

It also explains the catalog. Everything so far was made on as little generation budget as possible. It can definitely be made much much better, and I have the skills.

Working on something like this?

Eighteen years building systems in regulated environments, and a studio run single-handed to find out what one person can ship. If either half is useful to you, I am easy to reach.
